A second February 2015 update!

Another quick post to update all you PCV folk about a few developments. 🙂

  • Our new shipment of stickers has arrived, so more membership packs have been posted out this week (thanks Ryan, Mark, Mei and Josie!). We are hoping to clear the backlog of packs by the end of March. New members, keep an eye on your letterboxes!
  • We’ve tweaked our calendar! Check it out to stay up to date with all sorts of Pagan events taking place in Victoria in 2015! Please let us know if you’d like your event or gathering added to the list.
  •  Minutes from the latest committee meeting are all done (thanks Mark!), and can be found over here. We have a lot of very exciting ventures coming up!
  • We have a new, centralised Facebook page for our Hills Coffee Meetups (thanks, Sarah!), along with a page here on the website. Be sure to like this page to stay up to date.
  • The date has been set for our Annual General Meeting. Nominations for President, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President (a new role) will open shortly, once position descriptions are released. 100 Members!

Minutes from yesterday’s meeting will be released shortly, but in the meantime…

Yesterday’s committee meeting was a time for celebration! In less than twelve months, the Pagan Collective of Victoria has hit 100 members – pagans from all walks of life and from many different spiritual paths coming together to Connect, Share and Celebrate! Thank you to everybody who has supported us so far, and to our friends at the Magpie Cafe in Upwey for the delicious celebratory cake! 🙂

A January Update

Happy new year! 2015 has started with a bang here at the PCV. Here are the details of what we have going on at the moment:

Coffee Meetup: PCV committee member Sarah has been a busy bee over the New Years period organising our very first coffee meet! Thanks, Sarah! This will be taking place on Sunday, the 11th of January at the Magpie Cafe in Upwey (see the Facebook event for details). Newbies and any/all branches of Paganism welcome – this will be a friendly, inclusive meet-up, and a chance to connect and chat with other Pagan folk on a variety of paths. We hope to see you there!

Spokes of the Wheel: The Summer edition of Spokes of the Wheel has been sent out to members earlier this week. Let us know what you think! Thanks to Joy Seashell for her Midsummer article this edition. If you would like to contribute articles, artwork etc for the Lammas edition of Spokes, please send it to pagancollectivevic@gmail.com no later than Tuesday, the 27th of January 2015. We would especially love photos/brief paragraphs of what you’ve been up to in Victoria’s pagan scene. 🙂

Next Committee Meeting: The next committee meeting will be taking place on Sunday, the 21st of February in Melbourne. All PCV members are welcome to attend and have their say as to the direction of the Collective. We will confirm the time and venue shortly. You can read minutes of the last meeting here.

AGM: Our AGM will be taking place in June. Details of the exact date will be organised at February’s committee meeting.

Yule Dinner: Planning is already underway for our Pagan Community Yule Dinner, which will be taking place in June. We are hoping to finalise a venue by the February committee meeting, so that we can start selling tickets.

Membership: Membership to the PCV is FREE in 2015. In 2016, we will be introducing a small fee for members who join or renew after the 1st of January 2016. It is our intention to keep these fees low: enough to cover the cost of our website upkeep and admin. We will be discussing the details of these fees at the February committee meeting.
We are currently experiencing issues with the supplier of the stickers we use for our membership packs. As such, we have a large backlog of membership packs to post out! If you have recently joined the PCV and have not yet received your pack, don’t panic! We are hoping to have the situation rectified shortly and will keep our members posted (geddit?) on the situation.
Please note that we have added a clause on the membership page that applies to applicants outside Australia. As we are a non-profit organisation and do not currently charge for membership, we are unable to post the membership packs overseas at this time. People from outside Australia are still very welcome to join up to receive their copies of Spokes of the Wheel, however.

Website: Some changes have been made to the website. We now have a much more comprehensive links section. Please let us know if you find any broken links. 🙂

Phew! That’s all from us for now. Time for an icy pole and a nap in the shade!

Happy new year from the PCV!

happynewyearNow that the fruitcake is half eaten and we’ve slept off our egg-nog hangovers, we would like to take this opportunity to join the rest of the committee in wishing all PCV members a safe and happy new year!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped us get this venture off the ground. Thanks especially to Jess from the Tasmanian Pagan Alliance for her input and advice when the group was in its very early stages, and to everyone else who encouraged us to take the plunge and form the PCV. Thank-you also to everyone who contributed to the newsletter in 2014: Mel, Bret, Adrienne, Joy, Hawthorn, Selene, Philippe and White Sophia.

The support and enthusiasm shown by the Victorian Pagan community has been nothing short of inspirational this year, and we are so proud of what our collaboration has already brought to life. In only six months we, as a community, have proven that Victorian Pagans are more positive, more intelligent and far more collaborative than any of us suspected. Just imagine what we’ll achieve in another six months! So rest up, party safely, and we’ll see you in 2015!

– Ryan and Josie
PCV Secretary and President

Blast off!

This week, the PCV is officially one month old!

We have already been overwhelmed by the support from the Pagan community across Victoria. Thank you to everybody who has already joined up for one of our free memberships.

Committee Meeting

The inaugural committee meeting for the PCV will be taking place on Saturday, the 16th of August at 1pm at the Wesley Anne, in Northcote.
All members are welcome, whether it is to volunteer for a position within the organising committee, or simply to have a say in the direction of this new group. If you have any ideas or suggestions for events or initiatives that align with our Mission Statement, we would love to hear from you!

If you would like to add an item to the agenda, please email it to us at pagancollectivevic@gmail.com no later than Thursday, the 14th of August. The agenda will be published here on the website sometime on Friday.

Spokes of the Wheel

Work has already begun on the first issue of our members’ e-newsletter, Spokes of the Wheel, which is due out before Ostara (mid September). We are currently seeking submissions of articles, recipes and other seasonal musings, which can be emailed to us at the address above.

Membership Packs

If you have signed up for a PCV membership, you can expect your membership pack sometime in August. We are still making the final decisions on the design for our membership cards, but we will post another update when they arrive!

Get involved!

Since our launch a few days ago we’ve been overwhelmed with your kind words of support.

A few of you have asked how you can help. So, here’s some things you can do to get involved!

* If you’re a Pagan living in Victoria, sign up! It’s free and the best way you can keep in touch with what’s happening in the local community.

* Share our page and website on Facebook.

* Run a local event or group? Get in contact with us! We can add your events to our calendar on our website and newsletter. Let us know what’s been happening by sending us a write up to include in our newsletter.

*Run a Pagan friendly business and want some free advertising? Find out how you can get involved here: http://www.pagancollective.org/links/

We’ll also be having our first committee meeting in August and all members are welcome to attend. We’ll email detials to members in the coming weeks.
